International Mediterranean Diet Month!

The Mediterranean diet is a plant forward diet shown to be healthy, effective and promoting good health as we travel through life. Areas of the world which have historically followed this diet and lifestyle not only display increase longevity but produce a healthy & active elderly population. Every year the Mediterranean diet is herald as the healthiest diet because it is heart healthy and easy to follow with effective results.

What does it look like?

  • A variety of fruits, whole grains, olive oil, beans, nuts, legumes, seeds, herbs and spices in each meal.

  • Fish and seafood at least twice a week.

  • Moderate use of poultry, eggs, cheese and yogurt.

  • Rarely includes meats and sweets.

  • Drink water with optional, Red wine in moderation.

  • More importantly, the base of the diet is being physically active and enjoying meals with others.

  • It is a lifestyle not a diet.

Following these guidelines can make transformational changes in almost every aspect of your health.
